UPSC Free Coaching centre was started in Queen Mary's College(A) college in 2001 and has been providing training till date. The aim of this coaching centre is to provide training for the UPSC examinations to women graduates. Every year 60 students from all over Tamilnadu are selected through an entrance exam and interview. This is a free coaching centre funded by the government of Tamilnadu. About 660 graduates have completed this training. Successful trainees have been placed in various government and private concerns in managerial positions.

For the benefit of the trainees enrolled in this scheme, there is a library containing 3000 volumes of Books and computers with internet facilities. The trainers of this programme include former IAS officers, experts from various subjects and professors and trainers from various IAS coaching centers in Chennai city.
